What this office does
The Treasurer is the chief custodian of all Harris County funds. The office receives and deposits money into the county's depository bank, disburses county funds as directed by Commissioners Court, keeps records of everything deposited and withdrawn, and reconciles county bank statements to confirm accuracy and safeguard public money. It submits monthly financial reports to Commissioners Court and serves on the Bail Bond Board, the Investment Committee and the Audit Committee. It also holds certain unclaimed funds under state law.
