The City Council is being asked to vote on an ordinance that would deny Aqua Texas, Inc.'s request to raise water and wastewater rates for customers it serves within Houston city limits. The company applied for the rate change in June 2025, and the City's outside experts reviewed the application and recommended denying it.

What it means for you

If approved, this ordinance would keep Aqua Texas's current water and wastewater rates in place for the roughly 93 residential and 2 commercial water customers and 62 commercial wastewater customers it serves inside Houston, rather than allowing the proposed increase to take effect. If the Council does not act by December 1, 2025, the rate increase would automatically go into effect.
