PASSEDHouston City Council · 2025-11-12

The city council is being asked to approve a one-year extension, through December 10, 2026, of its existing contract with the law firm Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, which collects unpaid debts owed to the Houston Municipal Courts Department. This is the third amendment to a contract originally signed in 2014, and the extension is meant to keep collections running while the city works on selecting a new contractor.

What it means for you

Residents who have unpaid fines or fees through Houston's municipal courts would continue to have those accounts handled by the same collection firm during this extension period.
